The 2012-2013 UK Basketball Schedule

At the beginning of the year we all said, “This is gonna be another ‘Banner Year’ UK basketball schedule the wildcatfor The Wildcats.  We got the Second Coming of Anthony Davis in Nerlens Noel.  Alex Poythress will make up for losing Terrance Jones, and with Wiltjer soon to become a 3-Point god, we’ll be right back in it.”  Coach Cal kept warning us not to make those comparisons; between the individual players, or the team as a whole.  If you’re like me, you didn’t listen.  We all perpetually believe in, and want the best from, Coach and the Boys.  Now we’re 9 games into it and we’re 6-3.  How do you feel about the UK Basketball Schedule now?

UK Basketball Schedule:  What Do You Think So Far?

Well, my hopes for an undefeated season, which let’s face it, we all have at the start of EVERY season, are dashed now.  However . . .  I still love the Cats!  OK, we got beat by Duke (UUlp! Sorry, I just threw up a little,) but it could be a lot worse.

  • Kentucky-72 vs. Maryland-69 ( Whew, I say as I wipe my forehead!)
  • Duke-75 vs. Kentucky-68 (UUlp!  Sorry, I just threw up a little.)
  • Kentucky-101 vs. Lafayette-49  (Hallelujah! 2nd Coming of Wiltjer, 1st Coming of Poythress)
  • Kentucky-81 vs. Morehead St-70 (Watch out! Coach Woods will smack a guard!)
  • Kentucky 104 vs. LIU Brooklyn-75 (Got to see this one at Rupp!  No place like Home Game.)
  • Notre Dame-64 vs. Kentucky-50 (What the Heck?!?!)
  • Baylor-64 vs. Kentucky-55 (Good run Coach Cal; we’re starting to get what you’ve been saying.)
  • Kentucky-88 vs. Samford-56 (Six in double figures, nice.)
  • Kentucky-74 vs. Portland-46 (Crap! Seven days till the next game!)

OK, the UK Basketball Schedule so far doesn’t look as pristine as we would like, but for not having any experience to speak of on the court, with the exception of Mays from Wright State, it could be worse.

UK Basketball Schedule:  Next!

I don’t know about you, but I’m no fair weather fan, and I am convinced to my core that we will go undefeated for the remainder of the UK Basketball Schedule.  Let’s highlight who’s left.

Lipscomb (12/15) and Marshall (12/22)

Two teams that would have appeared to be “guarantee” games in October, but recent events have forced us to focus on the opponents in front of us.  That’s always a good thing.

UK basketball schedule coach calLouisville (12/29)

OK, seriously, we have to beat Louisville.  I mean it!  We have to beat them.  I have an obnoxious cousin from there, who will give me three kinds of pooh if we lose.  I mean it! If we don’t win I’m taking over the team.  No, I don’t think you understand how serious this is . . . well, maybe you do, I mean this site is called KentuckyCrazies.com.  OK, we’ll take over together. Meet me outside the old site of Wildcat Lodge the day after.  We’ll either celebrate or cry together.  Lord knows if you’re True Blue, one or the other will be happening following this game.  It may be the most important game on the UK Basketball Schedule.  Breathe, just breathe.

Eastern Michigan (01/02)

At 6-2 with a win over  . . . OK, I’m really serious!  We have to beat Louisville.  I mean if  . . .

OK, I’m back, my boss made me get up and put a bag over my head.  I don’t think that’s the proper procedure for hyperventilating, but I ended up passing out anyway.  I’m better now.

Back to Eastern Michigan; at 6-2 with an impressive win over Purdue this could be a hard fought win.

With only two Southeastern Conference Opponents left in the AP Top 25 as of the writing of this article this part of the UK Basketball Schedule looks more promising than it did earlier in the year, but you and I both know that the SEC is difficult at best and downright scary at worst.  Florida, Alabama, Missouri, and LSU all are showing great potential.  (I know, but I refuse to say anything nice about UT.)

UK Basketball Schedule:  Final Thoughts

As I look at the remaining UK Basketball Schedule I see two things:

  • Hard Lessons Learned
  • Promise

Whatever the outcome, as “Kentucky Crazies,” we have to keep one thing in mind as we go through this season . . . we have to beat Louisville!  You wait and see, it’s gonna be epic! Beating Louisville at Louisville, now that’s a UK Basketball Schedule highlight worth looking at.  Enjoy!
