Annual Trek For St. Joseph’s Peace Mission For Children

The boy’s residence next door to the Mission was built in 2011. Staff, board members and friends of the Mission watched as construction progressed on our new building. Seeing the culmination of our long anticipated dream of a home for boys was very exciting.

David Yewell, along with his family and friends of the community, helps put together a fun TREK each year to celebrate life and to raise awareness for the very worthy St. Joseph’s Peace Mission cause.

John Caliapri at the Owensboro Sportscenter – 8/18/2009

CalOwensboroKentuckyCrazies

Coach Calipari visited Owensboro after he was hired at the University of Kentucky for a charity dinner for the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club.

His speech was enlightening, touching, funny and telling he had a goal in place for his coaching time at UK. He demonstrated he was THE guy for this job. After the Billy Gillispie era, UK fans were primed for the fresh and professional approach that Calipari promised(and delivered).

Michael Hicks of A Unique Video, along with Terry Woodward of WaxWorks/VideoWorks and Team Marketing put a video together that spotlighted the 7 titles UK had at the time of John Calipari’s arrival that was shown at the dinner event in Owensboro. The video was shown just before his speech. Calipari liked it so much he approaced Michael Hicks and said, “Let’s make a DVD of this and get it out there”…

Team Marketing, along with UK, released a double DVD collectors edition that features both the 20 minute version and a longer version in the collection. You can purchase your copy by clicking on the DVD cover below.

Previously Unreleased Stories From Adolph Rupp and Cliff Hagan

KentuckyCrazies.com has acquired some extremely rare audio from a luncheon that took place in Owensboro, Kentucky at Gabe’s Restaurant on October 24, 1972.

Gabes Rest

The luncheon was held to raise money for the Cliff Hagan’s Boys Club that was to be located at 1512 Frederica Street in Owensboro. That evening the Kentucky Colonels and the Memphis Tams  of the ABA played a game at the Owensboro Sportscenter to raise money for the club as well.

Thanks to Tim Blandford for sending us this program autographed by Adolph Rupp.

Cliff Hagan was his usual professional self in his delivery. He shared a ton of great stories and was humbled by the honor of having the club garner his name.

Adolph Rupp is vintage Rupp. If you haven’t listened to him speak, do yourself a favor and listen.

rupp-groza

You will see where the Kentucky Wildcat passion was born when you listen to the stories. He’s cocky, confident, and irreverent. He calls it like it is and tells you what he’s done. After listening to Adolph Rupp, one might even hear a little John Calipari in there. Rupp was ahead of his time with the media and in the way he delivered his message. Sound familiar? I think Cal and Rupp are truly cut from the same cloth. Listen up, it’s awesome.

You can learn more about Adolph Rupp with this entertaining and informative documentary. Just click here or on the image below to order your DVD copy.
