Did Kentucky Pass Duke in the Final 2015 Scouts Recruiting Rankings?

Coach K Passed Out Kentucky Crazies

I’m not sure Coach K liked the news, but, yes, Kentucky just trumped Duke in the final rankings from Scout.com

Scout2015Rankings

The addition of Isaac Humphries pushed the Cats just ahead of the Devils to claim #1, shouldn’t we have learned by now to never doubt Cal?

All we can ask is for the Cats to be in the conversation every year for another banner(which is actually asking a lot) and Cal continues to deliver. It’s not a question of if we get 9, it’s just a matter of when…

This ranking doesn’t include Tai Wynyard, who will be playing for the Cats after the Christmas break, as he told Larry Vaught from VaughtsViews.com.

Check out the breakdown from Scout.com on the individual rankings of this years class.

Duke vs. UCONN Having Hard Time Filling Stadium, Using Groupon

8kkt6pZ

The Sporting News has pointed out that Duke vs. UCONN resorted to Groupon to try and pack the seats for their game this week.

“The online discount retailer was offering upper-level seats for less than half their $80 pricetag, allowing each fan to buy up to eight tickets. According to Groupon, roughly 80 people purchased tickets for Thursday’s game on their website.”

The defending National Champs and the proverbial media darlings don’t have fan bases that travel.

The Sporting News continues:

“How these two teams can’t scrape together 19,000 fans for a game just outside the New York City metro area — this is the defending national champions and the current No. 2 team in the country we’re talking about here— literally boggles my mind.

Certainly part of the reason could be that it’s a Thursday night game a week before Christmas. But Duke supposedly has almost 11,000 alumni in the Big Apple…”

We all know no one travels like #BBN, but, this is laughable considering the propaganda spewed about the Blue Devils, and UCONN has become a more recent media darling considering ESPN is in their backyard.

The next time someone boasts about Duke having the best fan base(or UCONN) show them this story.

Ex-Duke Star, Danny Ferry, Now Hawks GM Charged With Racially Charged Comments

DannyFerry

Things aren’t looking real good for an ex-Duke player that made some terrible remarks about another former Duke player.

The Atlanta Hawks co-owner Bruce Levenson announced Sunday that he would be putting the team up for sale.  Minority owner, Michael Gearon, sent an email to Levenson on June 12, 2014 that describes  Danny Ferry having made racially charged comments about Luol Deng on a conference call with the “higher ups” in the Hawks organization.  Here is the most important part of the email:

“With respect to one potential free agent, a highly-regarded African-American player and humanitarian, Ferry talked about the player’s good points, and then went on to describe his negatives, stating that “he has a little African in him. Not in a bad way, but he’s like a guy who would have a nice store out front but sell you counterfeit stuff out of the back.” Ferry completed the racial slur by describing the player (and impliedly, all persons of African decent) as a two-faced liar and cheat.”

Here is the full letter from Michael Gearon to Bruce Levenson.
